CLOSE RELATIONSHIPS, IDENTITY, & STIGMA LABORATORY

Our research aims to explore the complexities and underlying factors associated with close relationships, identity and stigma. To examine these factors, we use a variety of techniques employing experimental, longitudinal, and psycho-physiological methods. Our research is supported by funding from the National Science Foundation, Russell Sage Foundation and the Spencer Foundation.

STIGMA & IDENTITY

We explore stigma and identity considering both the experience of those possessing stigmatized identities as

well as those perceiving stigmatized identities. Current research explores the conditions under which stigma can transfer as well as the intergroup consequences of exposure to individuals with dual identities.

CLOSE RELATIONSHIPS

We conduct research to identify ways to improve close relationships. Recent findings document the challenge that gender role constraints play in sexual contexts. Current research explores how coping with stigma is managed in romantic relationships.
